When you walk into The Ordinary its like the gates to heaven open right in front of you. They recently opened a store in Soho and naturally I stopped by. Twice.
I'm personally a bit of a skincare freak and am always hunting down the next best thing to achieve a clear and glowy complexion. The only issue is that I don't know anything about chemicals or how active ingredients react with one another. But the crazy thing about the Ordinary is that the people working there like actually know that shit. They can tell you exactly what serums and treatments will work best with your skin type and how to create a realistic routine. To make things even better, they'll specifically tell you what to buy instead of just pushing product. No BS, no over priced products or schemes; just straight up skincare wizards here to save us all.
Sadly The Ordinary has not opened many locations nationally, but they do have a website with in depth descriptions of every product. Their brand prides itself on skipping out on branding fluff and utilizing ingredients that truly work, which allows them to keep their prices low. Like really really low.
So far I've tried out 4 of their products and fully intend on testing out more. They all worked for me but if you are interested in this brand I would suggest finding products that are suited for your individual skin type.
1. Hylamide Matte 12 ★★★☆☆
This product is actually from a brand called Hylamide but is sold in the same store as The Ordinary and is also available online! To sum things up this stuff is strongggg. I would say I have pretty oil skin and it worked really well in my T-Zone but dried out the more sensitive areas of my face. The instructions say that you can put this ontop of foundation but I prefer to use it as a primer. If you have oily skin I'd suggest trying this out but definitely use it sparingly because a little goes a long way.
2. Absorbly Glucoside Solution 12%★★★★★
I don't use this serum every day but when I do, I always notice a difference in my skin. When I first went to The Oridinary I told the sales rep that I was looking for a vitamin c serum to brighten my complexion, and she directed me to this instead. My favorite thing to do is to apply this right before my moisturizer if I know I want to look less dead the next day. When I wake up my skin is bright and glowing even if I wasn't so nice to it the day before.
*p.s - this serum is completely safe to use on a daily basis too!
3. Natural moisturizing factos + HA ★★★★★
I absolutely loved this moisturizer, to the point that the bottle was too jacked up for me to save it for the photo. It has a perfect creamy consistency that absorbs quickly into the skin and leaves your face super soft. To make things even better it's also only $6 so it wont break the bank :)
4. Serum foundation ★★★★☆
If there's one thing I would recommend buying, it's this little guy. This foundation is hands down the most lightweight formula I've ever tested, making it perfect for everyday wear. It has a watery consistency and blends out to a nice sheer coverage. Personally I love wearing this as a base, then going over problem areas with a little concealer for a fresh faced look. However, they also sell the coverage foundation if you want something a little stronger. The only downside is that it isn't super long wearing but the ordinary also has their own primers which might fix that problem!
